To make the most of a board’s potential for service, careful thought needs to be put into the parts that make up the whole: what kind of board do we really need if we are to provide the leadership our community needs looking into the future? What does it mean to have a diversified board in the 21st Century? How do we prepare our current board for the "board of the future" as we transform ourselves and undergo change? How do you engage and recruit younger generations and diverse leaders who open our access to new contacts, donors, and circles of influence?

The strategic design of a good board goes beyond selecting the right people. Participants in this interactive session will examine strategies to enhance board member identification, recruitment, orientation, and board renewal as well as peer-driven approaches to board member accountability and effectiveness.
