Inspired Governance: Risk Management Tools and Practical Resources

This clinic will showcase tools designed to help nonprofit leaders take their governance practices to the next level, including the recently released "Hallmarks of a Risk-Aware Nonprofit."

While nonprofit board members in other countries have long-embraced risk management as vital to effective governance, leaders of nonprofits in the U.S. have sometimes — and erroneously — regarded risk management as a staff responsibility. Attend this session to learn about the board’s vital oversight role, the importance of changing the culture of a nonprofit, and the relationship between good governance and sound risk management.

Attendees will leave the session with greater awareness of available resources and a suggested framework for integrating risk management in a way that will strengthen governance while increasing opportunities for mission-fulfillment.
